Flower painting...

Well, I'm 26 now. Working at The Chronicle is still going well - it's a lot more brainwork than I'm used to, but that's not a bad thing!

I came out with some surprisingly nice flower paintings at Garden Time last weekend. It was nice to have time to devote solely to painting. I haven't done that in a long while. Here's a photo of some of the work that came of the plein air painting:

From left to right, that's an orchid, a Venus Fly Trap, and some kind of lily. I had a good time. Nothing sold, but painting just felt really nice. I'll have to make more time for it.

I suppose it was just a matter of time. Allow me to explain. For about 5-6 years now, I have been using the username idioticidioms wherever I visit. I have e-mail addresses at AOL, Yahoo, Comcast, Hotmail, and GMail under this username. I no longer use my hotmail address due to a loss of password and it has been changed to idiomsofidiocy. I have also started a website and messageboard under the name idioticidioms, through geocities and phpbb, which have been discontinued due to lack of traffic. I have also used the name idioticidioms at various messageboards and online communities. So you can imagine my roadblock when I went to use it as Livejournal.com. It lead me here, and I will also be delivering the same message to the link on the main page of this website which leads to KateAustin.net.

Please observe that I am not staking any claim to this name, even though it irks me a little that someone else has been using it. This website seems to have been going on for a bit too long to stop it now, even if I had anything as substantial as a copyright to ensure the name belongs to me. That isn't my intent. My intent is to let you know that you have company out here.

I wish you luck with your web-pages.

I love your artwork, btw. It's beautiful.

I understand how you feel. I've had aephemera.net and used aephemera as my login name in tons and tons of places... But there's somebody else who's using it, and who operates aephemera.com, and also has a blog (I can't remember at the moment whether it was lj or what) and it was a roadblock for me in terms of continuity - I ended up using "aeph" in a lot of places, which doesn't make as much sense. When I started doing my artwork, I named myself Kate E. Austin so I was googlable, because there are so many Kate Austins out there, even though I'd rather leave it simpler. But such is the internet, a free-for-all.

Anyway, it's nice to meet the other idioticidioms. Thanks for contacting me.
